The Best Little Feature Film in Texas

I recently had the pleasure of returning to my home state of Texas to shoot a feature film just outside of Dallas. This has been a dream of mine ever since I left to come to L.A. over 11 years ago.

I cannot describe how it truly awesome it was to take the skills and friendships that I have cultivated in L.A. and put them to use back home.

It was a blessing getting to work with an awesome crew of locals. I can't thank them enough for all their hard work, and I hope I get another chance to go back and do it again.

And, with any luck, you'll be able to catch The Last Possession in a theater near you!

"Out of Print" News

OOP played in 35mm at the Crest Theater in Westwood on October 19th. I wasn't able to attend, but I'm told the print is absolutely gorgeous. It then played the following weekend at the Filmshift Festival in Boston and was very well received. Look for more screening info soon!

Oh yeah, and here's a picture of Julia Marchese and I receiving our Programmer's Award at the Sidewalk Film Fest in Birmingham:

Sidewalk Film Fest 2014

Last weekend I had the pleasure of showing Out of Print at the Sidewalk Film Festival in Birmingham, AL, and had THE BEST time I have ever had a film festival. The venues were great (including the very amazing Alabama Theater), the other filmmakers were a joy to meet and hang out with, and it was seriously the most well-run festival I have ever been a part of.

I will recommend this film festival to every filmmaker I meet from now on.
Oh yeah, and Out of Print won the Programmer's Award!

New Camera Package

I recently purchased a new Canon C100 camera package with a Ninja Blade recorder. It features:

  • Same beautiful sensor as the C500 and C300
  • Records 10-bit 4:2:2 (either ProRes or Avid DNxHD)
  • Cleaner image with less noise
  • Fantastic in low light
  • Sharper detail
  • More visual information to color with in post
  • Records up to 7 hours at the highest bitrates with my included SSD drives
    - OR -
  • Record directly to your own 2.5" drives so you never have to "dump" footage; you can just walk away with the drives at the end of the day

It's available as a package with myself or as a stand-alone rental. Rates, as always, are negotiable.

Keeping Busy

Well I've had a pretty amazing month shooting music videos, a commercial for Adidas, operating a camera for the Codex booth at NAB, and climbing a mountain to shoot a spec for a feature, all culminating in an amazing telecine session at Fotokem!

I'm looking to carry this momentum into the summer where I plan to shoot a couple more feature films. Fingers crossed!

Someone has hacked Vimeo.com with a denial of service attack, meaning that none of my videos can play right now. Hopefully they'll have the issue resolved soon so you can watch my reel and other videos. Check out my Vimeo page for more info: https://vimeo.com/alexsimondp
